Rose, a Merchant 1948 customer in Australia, contacted our Customer Experience team to share with them just how much she loves our Malibu heel – so much, in fact, that she owns it in a number of colours. Red, hot pink, teal, black, yellow and coral – Rose has them all! But there was just one colour she felt was missing from the Malibu colour palette. Orange.
When Salomé first launched her factory, a rarity in the male-dominated world of footwear manufacturing, everyone told her she'd be closed within a year. What happened was something few anticipated.
It all started out of frustration... Shane Anselmi wanted to create a simple, stylish sneaker that did two things standard sneakers didnt: combat odour and provide exceptional support. Before long, Deuce was born - but creating the sneakers Shane had in mind turned out to be a learning curve.
With Deuce, the goal was always to create sneakers with difference. To do so, they had to embrace change; the journey to differentiate themselves has seen Deuce pursue in-house design, develop their signature DualCore footbeds, and launch their own charity initiative the Young Hearts Project.
When it came to creating the perfect floral for spring we turned to an expert, up-and-coming artist Kohl Tyler-Dunshea. Realising our collaboration took time and patience, as we turned her delicate watercolour paintings into printed textiles that we then explored across a range of footwear designs.
Sneakers are simple right? But making them isn’t. We’ve been working on our sneaker manufacturing for years now, so we wanted we’d share our process with you! Our Deuce go through countless steps (and pairs of hands) before our vision is realised – stitching, foxing, vulcanisation and more.
Designed over a rowdy meal in Grand Central Station and inspired by the city that never sleeps... This exclusive collection is a story of collaboration and inspiration. From the very first sketches to hunting through our archives for the perfect vintage reference, Bella’s dreams became a reality.
We think the crazy Dutch guys behind the Bull Boxer brand are one of a kind. We’ve been dealing with them for years, as well as dealing with the hangovers of our many meetings. It’s all part of the fun though - and their shoes are fun too. They’re also handcrafted in Portugal.
What do priesthood, football and shoes have in common? More than you’d think! The story behind our Arturo range is that of José. Long before he created footwear in Portugal he was training to be a priest. Caught playing football, a series of events unfolded that led to him devoting his life to shoes.
It was while Shane Anselmi was searching for what he considered the ‘holy grail’ of men’s footwear that he uncovered the Rossofiorentino range in Montecatini, Italy. Their footwear posesses something he considers truly special - a unique combination of handsome craftsmanship and tough durability.
First invented 1871, the Goodyear-welt technique remains a pillar of quality. Why is it considered the best craftsmanship method? Their unique construction gives Goodyear-welted shoes, like those in our Michel for Merchant 1948 range, particular longevity; we’re here to tell you how they do it.
